Windows Server IPSEC / L2TP VPN Connection fails from Windows Vista / 7 / 10 Client if Windows Server is behind NAT

Apparently Microsoft was smart enough that you have to set a registry in order for the windows VPN client to connect to an IPSEC / L2TP Windows VPN Server if it's behind a Router / Firewall.

To fix it do the following on the client trying to connect to the VPN: open regedit and go to:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\PolicyAgent

Create a new 32-Bit D-Word "AssumeUDPEncapsulationContextOnSendRule" and set it to the value 2, and afterwards reboot.

And send some hate mail to the idiots at microsoft ...
