Windows 2008 can be installed on hard-drives with a capacity of more than 2tb, but you need to initialize them with GPT instead of MBR (if it is MBR windows will likely show something like a 2TB and a 1TB partition for example for a 3TB drive). Even if windows complains by saying something like Windows cannot be installed on a GPT style partition. In order to be able to install on those drives you need to use diskpart (shift f10 in windows setup) - diskpart - list disk - select disk x (x stands for the disk you want to install windows on) and run the following commands (all listed here - even previous ones): diskpart select disk x clean convert gpt exit exit then hit refresh or restart windows setup and you will be able to install on the large drive. |
