windows xp desktop not showing no icons no explorer.exe problem

| In case anyone runs across the problem, that the windows desktop is not loading anymore, after logging in, but only the wallpaper is showing: this is due to a virus. in order to solve this remove the following registry keys: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Image File Execution Options\explorer.exe HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Image File Execution Options\iexplorer.exe reboot. download an antivirus like avg -> (http://free.avg.com) and you are good. enjoy. |
